P.B. Menon: World Record for the longest serving lawyer in world

P.B. Menon a 97-year-old Lawyer from Kerala has proved that age is just a number.

Menon, a civil lawyer from Palakkad, Kerala, has created a new Guinness World Record for the longest-serving lawyer in the world. Even at the age of 97, Menon has been practicing law for an astonishing 73 years and 60 days, surpassing the previous record set by Gibraltar government lawyer Lewis Troy, who practiced law for 70 years 311 days before his demise this year.

Menon, who shows no signs of slowing down, has been taking part in judicial proceedings with the same zeal and agility as a newcomer. Menon is regarded as a legal icon and a source of inspiration for young lawyers due to his proficiency and knowledge of the law.

Menon, who was just inducted into the India Book of Records, retains a strong memory and frequently recalls his early days in the 1950s. He studied law at Madras Law College after graduating from Government Victoria College in Palakkad in 1947. Menon left the Madras High Court after two years to practice in Palakkad.

Menon attributes a watershed moment in his career to an experienced judge of a Kochi sub-court, who urged him to focus on civil law after winning a criminal case as a junior lawyer. Menon has approached each case with sincerity and dedication to ensuring justice for his clients.
