Orissa HC Grants Divorce to BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty and Actress Varsha Priyadarshini

Yesterday, Kendrapara’s BJD MP and Renowned Odia Actor Anubhav Mohanty Granted Divorce by Orissa High Court from Actress Wife Varsha Priyadarshini

Anubhav Mohanty and Varsha Priyadarshini, a beloved couple in Odia cinema boasting a substantial fan base, exchanged vows in February 2014, marking a celebrated union in the industry.

Within a span of fewer than six years, discord surfaced in their marriage. The BJD MP initiated divorce proceedings in a Delhi court in 2020, citing a lack of physical intimacy between the couple. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the family court in Cuttack in March 2021, following the Supreme Court's directive. Additionally, Varsha lodged a domestic violence case against Anubhav in a Cuttack court.

After the family court dismissed Anubhav's divorce plea on September 22, he appealed the decision in the high court. The high court overturned the earlier ruling of the Cuttack family court that denied Anubhav's divorce petition. Notably, the family court had also rejected Varsha's plea for the restoration of conjugal rights.

Anubhav Mohanty's primary grievance revolved around the non-consumption of their marriage. He contended that the denial of conjugal rights amounted to cruelty. Upon careful consideration of the plea and the presented evidence, the high court granted the couple's divorce. However, it's important to note that there was no specific ruling regarding alimony, as confirmed by Anubhav's counsel, Lalitendu Mishra.
