The supreme court would witness an unprecedented move tomorrow when 3 judges would take oath after court hours at 4:15 pm. As per the tradition of the supreme court judges take oath in the morning session and then sit in the court and function.
The Swearing-in-Ceremony of Hon'ble Mr Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Chief Justice, High Court of Delhi, Hon'ble Mr Justice Augustine George Masih, Chief Justice, High Court of Rajasthan and Hon'ble Mr Justice Sandeep Mehta, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court as Judges of the Supreme Court of India is proposed to be held on Thursday, 9th November, 2023 at 4.15 P.M. in the Auditorium, 3rd Floor, "C" Block, Additional Building Complex, Supreme Court Premises.
Spouses of Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India and Hon'ble Judges will also be invited for the swearing-in- ceremony. E-invitation will be sent through e-mail.
Supreme Court collegium had recommended their names on the 6th of November 2023 and the Union Government has fast forwarded the names and approval was given within just 2 days.
The matter of appointment of judges was listed on the 7th November 2023 regarding the delay in appointment of judges on the 6th November before the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court scolded the central government for the delay in approving the names recommended by the collegium. The SC also grilled the Union Government on the system of picking and choosing the names recommended by them.
