New Chief Justice of India to be designated at 10:15 today in the presence of all the Supreme Court Judges

Chief Justice of India UU Lalit is going to designate the next Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud today at 10:15 AM in the Supreme Court in the presence of all the judges of the Supreme Court by handing him over the letter of recommendation.

As per the Collegium system, the incumbent CJI designates the seniormost judge of the Supreme Court for the appointment of the next Chief Justice of India. Justice DY Chandrachud is presently the Senior most Judge of the Country. If Justice Chandrachus is appointed the next CJI, he would be the 50th person to serve in the top post of the judiciary. Justice Chandrachus would have a tenure of little above 2 years.
