The Ministry of Law and Justice on Thursday issued notification for the appointment of six lawyers and seven judicial officers as judges in four high courts. According to this, seven judges have been appointed in Madhya Pradesh High Court, two in Patna High Court, one in Guwahati High Court and three in Punjab and Haryana High Court.
On October 17, 2023, the collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud appointed lawyers Vinay Saraf and Vivek Jain and judicial officers Rajendra Kumar Wani, Pramod Kumar Aggarwal, Vinod Kumar Dwivedi, Dev Narayan Mishra and Gajendra Singh as judges in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
On the same day, the collegium had recommended the appointment of judicial officers Rudra Prakash Mishra and Ramesh Chand Malviya as judges in the Patna High Court.
The collegium had recommended the names of Adv Sumit Goyal, Sudipti Sharma and Kirti Singh for appointment as judges in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The collegium had recommended the appointment of lawyer Kaushik Goswami as a judge for the Gauhati High Court. It is noteworthy that last month, 11 judicial officers and six lawyers were appointed as judges in eight high courts including Delhi.
