Today, Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia approached the Supreme Court seeking bail in the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi excise policy scam.
Sisodia challenged the Delhi High Court order that denied him bail in the cases filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Earlier, on July 3rd, the Delhi High Court denied bail to Sisodia in the ED case. Prior to that, it had rejected Sisodia's bail plea in the CBI case related to the same scam.
Sisodia, who also held the excise portfolio along with several other responsibilities as the deputy chief minister of Delhi, was first arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged involvement in the "scam."
He has been in custody since then and resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28.
