Madras High Court rejects plea seeking to declare Buddha Purnima as government holiday

Today, the Madras High Court rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) petition seeking directions from the Central government to declare Buddha Purnima as a government holiday.

During a hearing, the division bench of acting Chief Justice T Raja and Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy held: 

"Lord Buddha himself may not endorse this plea. Dismissed," the Court said rejecting the petition.

The plea was filed by one NK Satish Kumar.
