Madras High Court has announced the extension of mandatory e-filing for an array of case types, effective from September 1, 2023. This progressive move comes with the approval of the Hon'ble Chief Justice, marking a transformative shift towards enhanced efficiency and accessibility in the legal landscape.
The scope of mandatory e-filing now encompasses various categories including Anticipatory Bail Applications, MCOP cases, Rent Control Cases and Rent Control Appeals, Trust Original Petitions, Succession Original Petitions and Appeals, Guardian Original Petitions, all OPs, Review Petitions, Execution Petitions, Private Complaints made before Magistrates, and related Revisions. Moreover, this extension also encompasses cases filed by Banks and Financial Institutions in the District Judiciary.
The initiative leverages the e-filing portal (https://efiling.ecourts.gov.in), skillfully developed by the Hon'ble e-Committee, Supreme Court of India. The court has ensured accessibility to comprehensive resources for practitioners and litigants, including detailed guidelines, a tutorial video for the e-filing process provided by the Madras High Court, and an elaborate user manual from the Hon'ble e-Committee.
All advocates and parties appearing in person are urged to harness this modernized facility by utilizing their personal electronic devices. This strategic shift toward e-filing is poised to streamline legal proceedings, bolster transparency, and expedite the judicial process. The announcement is set to reshape the legal landscape, ushering in a new era of digital litigation efficiency.
