The bench of Justices V. Ramasubraminan and Pankaj Mithal while hearing a case related to illegal excavation and transportation of "Bajri" (Sand) stated in a lighter way to list the matter above the names of the judges when senior advocate repeatedly insisted on listing the matter early and on the top of the board.
When the matter was listed for hearing before the Supreme Court on Monday the 27th of March 2023, Senior Advocate Dhruv Mehta appearing for the miners stated that this matter would take some time therefore, it shall be listed on a non-misc day so that it could be heard at length. Senior Advocate Manish Singhvi, Additional Advocate General for the State of Rajasthan opposed the same in a very strong way and stated that the other side is in the business of illegal mining and taking time. They are mafias who have ruined the state.
The court suggested that it would grant leave in the matter and fix a date on either Wednesday or Thursday so that the matter could be heard but it was opposed by Sr. Adv. Singhvi.
However, the court noted this in the order and fixed a date for a hearing. Mr. Singhvi still insisted to list the matter on the top of the board. On the same thing being repeated after the pronouncement of the order, the bench orally observed to list the matter above the names of the judges.
