The Kerala High Court has been notified by the state government that the outstanding pension dues owed to retired employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will be settled within a fortnight.
The state government's response was presented within a contempt plea filed against it for its failure to settle the pension arrears of KSRTC employees. Earlier, counsel representing the Transport Department apprised the bench about the government's obligation to manage the pension payments of KSRTC employees as per a directive dated February 17, 2018.
He also added that pensions had been paid to the employees without fail until June 2022.
Justice Devan Ramachandran heard the matter.
The state's counsel further stated that an order had been issued for the establishment of a consortium tasked with distributing the pensions, and assured that this process would be completed within the next two weeks.
The contempt petition filed by the petitioners has been posted for February 28.
