Karnataka Lokayukta approaches Supreme Court challenging Karnataka High Court Orders granting anticipatory bail to BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa

Today, the Karnataka Lokyukta moves to the Supreme Court of India Challenging the orders of the Karnataka High Court Orders granting anticipatory bail to BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa. The Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud agreed to list the matter on Friday.

The Counsel member also requested him to list this matter earlier if possible, CJI mentioned that he is heading a Constitution Bench hearing today and asked the counsel to mention the matter before Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul (the second senior judge). 

When the matter was mentioned before Justice Sanjay Krishan Kaul, he ordered to list the matter "as early as possible", without specifying any date.

By way of background, the complaint was lodged before the Lokayuktha Police alleging that Virupakshappa demanded illegal gratification to process a certain tender in Karnataka Soaps & Detergents Ltd (KSDL).
