Karnataka Board Exams Matter : Supreme Court plea withdrawn

Yesterday, Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association decided to withdraw its plea filed in the Supreme Court against the Karnataka Class 5, 8 Board Exams 2023. After the Supreme Court of India rejected all petitions on March 27, 2023, the organisation decided to withdraw its plea. The Supreme Court dismissed all petitions filed against KSEAB conducting board exams for Classes 5 and 8 on March 27, 2023.
 
A division bench of Justices BR Gavai and Vikram Nath dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
 
Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association approaches Supreme Court against the order passed by a division bench of the Karnataka High Court which allowed the Karnataka State Examinations and Assessments Board to conduct board exams for Class 5 and Class 8 students.
 
On March 20, the petitioners expressed the need for the petition to be taken up in an urgent listing. However, Chief Justice of India, CJI DY Chandrachud decided against it.
 
Speaking to the petitioners' lawyers, CJI Chandrachud stated that the apex court will not be interfering with the High Court order. "Let's not interfere with that... the High Courts know what is best in that State," stated the Chief Justice of India.
 
Karnataka USMA had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court regarding cancelling the board exams for Classes 5 and 8. The government circular was quashed by a single judge bench. Later on, the state government filed an appeal with the division bench, following with they got a green light to conduct the exams but was asked to postpone the dates by two weeks.
Karnataka Board Exams for Classes 5 and 8 began on March 27, 2023 at 2:30 PM. The last exam is scheduled to be held on April 1, 2023.
