Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar, took oath as Supreme Court judges

February 13, saw the swearing-in of Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar, who were previously Chief Justices of the Allahabad and Gujarat High Courts, respectively. In front of all the judges, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud gave them the oath of office. 

The Supreme Court will have a functional quorum of 34 judges following their appointments. 

The Supreme Court collegium recommended their names for promotion on January 31. On February 10, the Center alerted them of their appointments. 

Within the past week, there have been two swearing-in ceremonies before the Supreme Court. Justices Pankaj Mithal, Sanjay Karol, PV Sanjay Kumar, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, and Manoj Mishra were among the five judges who took the oath of office on Monday.
