In collaboration with the Chief Justice of India, the Central Government has appointed Dr. Justice S Muralidhar, a former Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, as a Member of the National Legal Services Authority.
The Centre has also nominated the following persons as NALSA Members :
1. Senior Advocate Siddharth Agarwal.
2. Justice Arun Palli, judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court
3. Senior Advocate Meenakshi Arora.
4. Dr. Mrinal Satish, Professor of Law, National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
5. Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra
6. Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, Chairman of the Bar Council of India
7. Professor Debasish Basu, Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, PGI, Chandigarh.
8. Profesor Asha Bajpai, Founder Dean, School of Law, Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established under the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987 with the objective of offering free and proficient legal assistance to marginalized sections of society. The Patron-in-Chief of NALSA is Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, while Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul serves as its Executive Chairperson.
