Justice Rajendra Menon reappointed as armed forces tribunal chairman

Former Chief Justice Rajendra Menon of the Delhi High Court has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) for a four-year term.

Justice Menon's term as Chairman of the Tribunal will continue until he reaches the age of 70, which is expected to be on June 6, 2027.

The former judge was initially nominated for the position in 2019 and fulfilled a four-year term in the role.

Justice Menon's legal career timeline is as follows: He was appointed as an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on April 1, 2002, and subsequently became a permanent judge on March 21, 2003. Additionally, he served as the Welfare Commissioner for the Bhopal Gas Victims Compensation Commission from December 2010 to March 2015. Later, he was elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the Patna High Court on March 15, 2017, and held this role until his transfer to the Delhi High Court.

Justice Menon concluded his tenure as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court in May 2019, which was slightly less than a year after he assumed the position in August 2018.
