Today, Justice Amrit Sharma was sworn in as a permanent judge of Delhi High Courrt. Earlier, Justice Sharma was a practising lawyer as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court. 

In November 2021 his name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for elevation as the judge of the Delhi High Court. 

Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Satish Chandra Sharma administered the oath to him in the presence of other judges. In February 2023  Supreme Court Collegium recommended that Justice Sharma be made a permanent judge against an existing vacancy.

“Having regard to all the relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that Shri Justice Amit Sharma, Additional Judge, is suitable for being appointed as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Delhi,” the Collegium said.
