IAS Trainee Seeks Anticipatory Bail in UPSC Exam Fraud Case

Trainee Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Puja Khedkar has approached Delhi's Patiala House Court for anticipatory bail after being booked for allegedly faking her identity to exceed the permissible limit for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam attempts.

The case was listed before Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Devender Kumar Jangala.

However, the Delhi Police informed the court that a Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) has been appointed and will be available tomorrow. Consequently, the court adjourned the hearing to Wednesday at 10 AM.

Khedkar faces charges from the Delhi Police based on a complaint filed by the UPSC, which also issued her a show cause notice. She is accused of misusing quotas under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities categories to pass the UPSC exams.

According to an NDTV report, Khedkar's father, Dilip Khedkar, a former Maharashtra government officer, is currently embroiled in a corruption case and has faced suspension twice for related charges, including extortion. Her mother, Manorama Khedkar, a sarpanch, is also under scrutiny after a video surfaced showing her brandishing a gun and threatening a group of people.
