Himachal HC Serves Notice to State Government, PWD Over Illegal Building Demolitions

The State High Court has sought response from the State Government in the matter related to illegal encroachment on both sides of the main road of the religious tourist destination Tattapani.

Petitioner Chandra Kant Sharma has filed a petition in the High Court demanding removal of encroached buildings on both sides of the road.

Taking the matter seriously, the division bench headed by the Chief Justice issued notice to the state government along with the Public Works Department, DC Mandi and SDM Karsog and ordered them to file replies on the issues raised in the petition.

According to the applicant, being a tourist town, he came to Tattapani area many times but he faced many difficulties in parking his car there.

Seeing the poor condition of the road, when we talked to the local people, it was found that some people had encroached on both sides of the road. After this, when the applicant collected information related to the road from the Revenue Department, it was found that the road has been built on Khasra No. 173 Muhal Tattapani Tehsil Bagshad District Mandi.

The owner of this Khasra number is the state government, hence private people cannot do any kind of construction on it.

The applicant says that when he asked the Panchayat Secretary about this, he told that the local residents have encroached on both sides of the road in such a way that the width of the road has reduced considerably. People and tourists coming for religious functions face a lot of parking problems here. The applicant has appealed to the court to free the said Khasra No. 173 from illegal occupation. A hearing on the case has been scheduled for December 7.
