Hathras Murder Case | UP Court acquitted 3 Accused

UTTAR PRADESH: Today, In the Hathras murder and rape case, the Uttar Pradesh Court has acquitted 3 Accused (Ramu, Ravi and Luvkushand) and Convicted 1(Sandeep). Sandeep was convicted the offence of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and for offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

 The 19 yrs old Victim girl was brutally gag raped in Hathras on 14 September 2020, thereafter on 29 September 2020, the Victim died at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

When her body was taken to her native place in UP, the local police Criminated her body late night without any consent from her family.

Later on October 1, 2020. Allahabad High Court had taken suo motu cognisance

"The incidents which took place after the death of the victim on 29.09.2020 leading up to her cremation, as alleged, have shocked our conscience, therefore, we are taking suo moto cognizance of the same," the High Court had noted.

Later on 10 October 2020, the Allahabad High Court transferred this Case to the Central Bureau of Investigation and then CBI filed the charge sheet against all four accused men in December 2020,

A plethora of PIL was also filed before the Apex Court during that time, largely seeking independent, monitored probe and witness protection, among other reliefs.
