Governor's Response to Kerala Government's SC Petition: Urges CM Vijayan to Address These Queries

The Kerala government has accused Governor Arif Mohammed Khan of not approving several bills. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's government has also filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the Governor. Arif Mohammad Khan has responded to the petition filed by the government.

Speaking to the media, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said, 'We not only respect the Supreme Court's decision, but whatever it says, we are all bound by it. I do not want to comment on some of the comments made there, because the case is different. In the matter of Lokyukta, you cannot be your own judge. Where you have to decide for yourself, you are violating the basic principle of jurisprudence.

Raising questions on the state government, he said, 'As far as the University Bill is concerned, where is the provision? Who will meet the expenses incurred by the Vice-Chancellors? If any expenditure is involved will it be treated as a Money Bill or not? If it is a Money Bill, will it require prior approval of the Governor or not? Whatever decision the Supreme Court gives, we all are bound to implement it.

The Kerala government says that there are eight bills pending with Governor Arif Mohammed Khan which have been approved by the Assembly but have not yet been approved by the Governor. The Kerala government's petition alleges that three bills are pending with the Governor for the last two years.
