Former Minister Chaudhary Lal Singh Granted Interim Bail by Jammu Court in ED's Money Laundering Case

Former minister Chaudhary Lal Singh was granted interim bail by a Jammu court on Thursday in a money laundering case initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Principal District and Sessions Judge, Sanjay Parihar, granted interim bail to Chaudhary Lal Singh until December 14, 2023, with specific conditions. These included the requirement for Singh to surrender his passport to the authorities.

Represented by Senior Advocate RK Kotwal, Singh presented his case under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, asserting that the accusations made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) were unfounded.

The court issued its order on November 23, allowing Lal Singh interim bail until December 14 while instructing him to cooperate with investigative bodies and refrain from influencing any witnesses involved in the case. The ED's inquiry revolves around alleged discrepancies in land procurement by an NGO managed by Singh's wife.

Singh was detained on November 7 in connection to this case. His wife, Kanta Andotra, and their daughter, Kranti Singh, had previously been granted interim bail until November 30 in the same matter.

During Singh's bail plea, Senior Advocate Kotwal, supported by advocates Mandeep Singh, Fahim Ahmed Mir, and Akshay Deep Singh Parihar, represented Lal Singh's interests.
