Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, has been granted permission by the Rouse Avenue Court to visit his ailing wife and consult with doctors once a week. Sisodia has been in jail for more than a year in connection with the liquor policy case. The relief was provided to the AAP leader on Monday.

Additionally, he has appealed for custody parole for two days per week to meet his wife. Special Judge MK Nagpal at Rouse Avenue Court issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding this application, with a scheduled hearing on February 2, 2024.

In the process of issuing the notice, the court acknowledged that the initial application pertains to Manish Sisodia's request for regular bail (his second bail application), while the second application is specifically for seeking custody parole. The latter is intended to allow him to meet his ailing wife for two days every week. Similar applications have also been filed in CBI cases.

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, is currently in custody due to his alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam. The Supreme Court of India dismissed his bail petition on October 30. Notably, his prior bail applications had also been turned down by both the High Court and the trial court on May 30 of the previous year.

Manish Sisodia was allowed custody parole to visit his ailing wife on Diwali, which took place on November 10, 2023. He had been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, and subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him on March 9. The ED has put forth allegations that the accused, Manish Sisodia, has been involved in activities leading to the generation of proceeds of crime amounting to approximately ₹622 crore.
