The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a response from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on an election petition contesting her victory from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency.
The single-headed bench of Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice to the Leader of Opposition following a plea filed by Kamaljit Singh Duggal and Ayush Rana, both voters from the constituency.
The Court has also directed the Election Commission of India, the Returning Officer, and Delhi Police to secure all records related to the February elections. The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on July 30.
The petition alleges that Atishi and her election agents engaged in corrupt practices during the polls. It claims that a day before voting, individuals closely associated with Atishi were found in possession of ₹5 lakh in cash within the Kalkaji constituency, purportedly intended for voter inducement.
Additionally, the plea accuses AAP workers of spreading misleading statements against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri. It further alleges that the then Chief Minister misused public resources to advance electoral interests.
