Delhi High Court issued notice on the PIL seeking to stop cow slaughtering in Delhi

DELHI: Today, in the matter of Ajay Gautam v. UOI, Delhi High Court has issued a Public Interest Litigation seeking to stop cow slaughtering and to separate the Cow Protection cells in all the districts of the National Capital

The bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad sought a response from the Union of India. The Counsel member of UoI, ASG Chetan Sharma said that it’s a genuine problem. The plea was filed by Ajay Gautam in which he mentioned rampant incidents of cow slaughtering in Delhi.

He also mentioned that a lot of people from Mewat or Nuhu district of Haryana come to Delhi to kidnap stray Cows and take them for slaughtering.

The Petitioner also mentioned that the state police are empowered to make a special cell or unit for the protection of cows to avoid conflict between cow smugglers and cow sewaka under the Delhi Police Act, 1978.

In its petition, they have also mentioned that Cows are the support of all the worlds for by their milk they nourish terrestrial beings and by their ghee offered in sacrifice, they nourish the denizens of the celestial realms.
