In a significant development, the Delhi High Court has scheduled a hearing on July 28 for a plea filed by the College of Vocational Studies. The esteemed institution seeks permission to appoint teachers across its diverse departments, after facing allegations of manipulation in the teaching roster.
A diligent assistant professor from the Department of Tourism lodged a petition, accusing the authorities of deliberately excluding unreserved category posts within his department. This alleged manipulation in the roster ultimately led to the arbitrary termination of services for several ad-hoc assistant professors.
Justice Chandra Dhari Singh, presiding over a vacation bench, has directed the matter to be presented before the assigned judge on the previously designated date. This decision aims to ensure a fair and impartial consideration of the case.
Refuting the claims made by petitioner Ravindra Singh Kushwaha, the college emphasized that he has presented the facts erroneously. The petitioner alleges that the manipulated teaching roster, which failed to reserve any positions for the unreserved category in the Department of Tourism, resulted in his loss of opportunity to apply for vacancies in this specific field.
The petitioner asserts that due to the aforementioned manipulations, no positions are earmarked for the unreserved category in the Department of Tourism or any other college affiliated with the university. This situation severely restricts the petitioner's rights to apply for vacancies, not only within the respondent college but also elsewhere under the purview of the university.
On May 25, Justice Jyoti Singh took note of the petition and issued a notice, ensuring the petitioner's services would not be terminated until the next hearing. Furthermore, Justice Singh emphasized that any future appointments made by the college must seek prior approval from the court.
With the court's unwavering commitment to transparency and justice, the plea hearing on July 28 holds immense significance for the College of Vocational Studies and all parties involved.
