Delhi Court Extends Custodial Interrogation of Parliament Security Breach Suspect Until January 5

Yesterday, the Delhi court decided to extend the custodial interrogation of a suspect involved in the Parliament security breach case until January 5. Special Judge Hardeep Kaur granted an extension to Lalit Jha's custody based on a request presented by the Delhi Police.

The police informed the court that Jha was deemed the mastermind behind the entire incident and emphasized the necessity to interrogate him further to unravel the complete conspiracy.

On Thursday, the court had also extended the custody of four other accused—Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, and Neelam Devi—until January 5.

In a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow smoke from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by some of the MPs.

Simultaneously, at a similar juncture, two other accused—Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi—released smoke from canisters outside the Parliament premises while chanting "tanashahi nahi chalegi" which translates to "dictatorship will not be tolerated."
