CJI Chandrachud would not stay at the Bungalow earmarked for CJI

It is for the first time that the residential address of the Chief Justice of India is not going to be the same as it has been for the last many years. CJI Dr. DY Chandrachud is shifting to bungalow 19, Akbar Road. CJI would not stay at the bungalow earmarked for the Chief Justice of India 5, Krishna Menon Marg. Former CJI UU Lalit is still staying at 5 Krishna Menon Marg and he is not going to vacate it till February. The repair and modification are going to take a long time.

Presently, CJI is staying at 14, Tuglak Road. He was allotted this Bangalow in 2016 when he was elevated as Supreme Court judge and since then he is staying in this accommodation.

The new address of the CJI would be 19, Akbar Road which is a 2-storeyed house. Former CJI Chandrachud used to stay there before he was appointed as Chief Justice.

It is noteworthy that the father of the CJI, YV Chandrachud has also remained Chief Justice of India and the childhood of Dr. Chandrachud was spent in this bungalow. While staying in this Bangalow, he has done his school and college.
