The Central government has notified the appointment of advocate L Victoria Gowri as an additional judge of the Madras High Court on Monday.

This move comes even as a petition was moved before the Supreme Court by lawyers from Tamil Nadu challenging the Collegium recommendation to appoint Gowri as a judge.

Sr. Advocate Raju Ramchandran mentioned the petitioner for urgent listing before Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud for urgent listing which is directed to be listed Tomorrow 17th Feb, 2023.

Gowri's credentials and her alleged affiliation to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are not on the radar of Madras High Court advocates.
