Central Min Shekhawat alleged Scam: 2nd Judge recuses from hearing

In a petition filed for quashing FIR against Union Minister Gajendra S Shekhawat in the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam, the hearing did not take place in the HC on Tuesday.

The petition on item no. 181 was listed in court of Rajasthan High Court Justice Praveer Bhatnagar who made an exception while refusing to hear petition. AAG Anil Joshi and Special Counsel Siddharth Luthra appeared for the Government of Rajasthan whereas Supreme Court advocates M Jethmalani & Dhirendra Daspa presented on behalf of Shekhawat.

Earlier a sessions court in Jaipur has directed a Metropolitan Magistrate to send a complaint for investigation in a credit society scam, allegedly involving Union Minister Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan police. The complaint had sought a probe into Shekhawat's role as an accused.

The matter, being investigated by the SOG since last year, pertains to the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam, in which thousands of investors allegedly lost about Rs. 900 crore. The complainants alleged that money was transferred to the companies owned Mr. Shekhawat, his wife and others, but their roles were never investigated.

On 3 September 2017 he was appointed Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Shekhawat became the Central Minister of Jal Shakti on 31 May 2019 in the present Modi Government.
