Central government appoints judicial officer Arun Kumar Rai as Jharkhand High Court judge

On Wednesday, the Central government officially announced the appointment of Arun Kumar Rai, a judicial officer, as a judge of the Jharkhand High Court.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Minister of State with independent charge of the Law and Justice Ministry, took to Twitter to announce the appointment of Arun Kumar Rai as a judge of the Jharkhand High Court. Additionally, the official notification regarding this development was posted on the Law Ministry website.

As per the resolution passed by the Collegium, Arun Kumar Rai's elevation to the position of a judge in the Jharkhand High Court was recommended in September of the previous year by the Jharkhand High Court Collegium.

The resolution highlighted that the Judgment Evaluation Committee, appointed by the Chief Justice of the High Court, assessed Rai's authored judgments as 'Very Good.' As of January 1, the Jharkhand High Court operates with 18 judges, in contrast to its approved strength of 25 judges.
