Breaking: Justice S Abdul Nazeer, Former Judge Supreme Court appointed as Governor of Andhra Pradesh

The President of India has appointed former Supreme Court judge Justice S Abdul Nazeer as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

Justice Nazeer retired recently on January 4 as a Judge of the Supreme Court. Justice Nazeer was part of the historic Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi judgment and headed the bench which gave the Demonetization Case in favour of the Central Government.

Justice Nazeer was also part of the SC Benches that gave judgments in the Justice K S Puttaswamy case that held privacy to be a fundamental right, the triple talaq case in which he dissented with the 3:2 majority judgment that ruled the practice was unconstitutional.

Born on 5th January 1958 Justice Nazeer, enrolled as an advocate on 18th February 1983. He practiced before the Karnataka High Court and was appointed as an additional Judge of the High Court on 12th May 2003.
