Advocates Shailesh Madiyal and Kanu Agrawal have taken on crucial roles as Additional Advocate Generals (AAG) for Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), entrusted with the responsibility of representing the Union Territory in cases presented before the Supreme Court.

Both Madiyal and Agrawal hold esteemed positions as advocates-on-record (AoR) at the Supreme Court, underscoring their experience and expertise in legal matters at the highest judicial level.

Madiyal's legal journey was propelled by his graduation in law from Bangalore University, a testament to his academic prowess and commitment to the field of law.

Agrawal, on the other hand, boasts an impressive career trajectory as a junior to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. He earned his law degree from the prestigious National Law Institute University, Bhopal, in 2014. His professional journey saw him serve as a judicial clerk at the Supreme Court under the guidance of retired Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, an invaluable experience that undoubtedly honed his legal acumen. In addition, Agrawal's tenure at the chambers of advocates Sandeep Das (AoR) and Vipin Tyagi further enriched his understanding of legal intricacies.

Agrawal's prowess in the legal arena was solidified by his notable achievement of securing the second rank in the highly competitive 2021 AoR examination, showcasing his dedication and competence.

It is noteworthy that in the previous year, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir had made strategic appointments, designating advocate Rushab Aggarwal as the Standing Counsel and advocate Shailesh Madyal as the Advocate-on-Record. This move underscored the Union Territory's commitment to robust legal representation before the Supreme Court.

These recent appointments collectively highlight the Union Territory's proactive approach to legal affairs and its dedication to ensuring proficient representation in matters of national and regional significance.

As Madiyal and Agrawal assume their roles as Additional Advocate Generals, their expertise is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the legal landscape, particularly in cases that hold far-reaching implications for Jammu and Kashmir and the nation at large.
