Amid Center, Supreme Court tussle: Central Government clears names of two judges of Bombay High Court

The two names suggested by the Supreme Court for the appointment of judges of the Bombay High Court have been approved by the Central Government. Central Minister for Law and Justice Kiran Rijuju has rendered information in this regard. He said that the names of Advocate Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar and advocate Milind Manohar Sathaye of the Bombay High Court have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court. The Central Government has approved these names amind the Central Government and Supreme Court face off in delaying of the names suggested by the collegium.

Recently it has been witnessed that the Supreme Court has scolded the Central Government for sitting over the names suggested by the Supreme Collegium for the appointment of the judges of various High Court Judges. Last week when the matter was listed before a bench led by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, the bench took a stringent view of the matter and directed the Attorney General of India R. Venkataramani to file its response on the same issue.
