Justice Yashwant Varma, who was transferred from the Allahabad High Court to the Delhi High Court in 2021, has once again made headlines following a recent development.

Anil Tiwari, President of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, underscored the legal community’s united opposition to the decision.

“We cannot allow our court to be perceived as a refuge for judges facing allegations of misconduct. This strike is to assert that our judiciary remains a place of unimpeachable integrity and not a dumping ground for unresolved controversies.”

The lawyers’ strike seeks to urge the judiciary to reconsider the transfer, emphasizing the need to uphold the sanctity of the Allahabad High Court as proceedings and investigations into the incident at Justice Varma’s residence remain ongoing.

The Bar Association is demanding a comprehensive review of all judgments delivered by Justice Varma and has urged national investigative agencies to oversee the process, ensuring transparency and restoring public trust.
