Allahabad HC directs revenue officials to present complete records pertaining to alteration in ownership of land belonging to Banke Bihari Ji Temple

The Allahabad High Court has instructed revenue officials to present complete records pertaining to the alteration in ownership of the land belonging to the Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj temple in this area.

Yesterday, the single-headed bench of Justice Saurabh Srivastava passed the order on a petition filed by Shri Bihari ji Sewa Trust, Mathura, which mentioned that the temple land’s ownership was changed in revenue records in 2004 in the name of a graveyard.

The petition requested the Chhata revenue authorities in Mathura to rectify the entry that has been incorrectly recorded for the graveyard instead of the legitimate site of the Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj temple in this location.

As a continuation of a previous directive issued on August 10, the Chhata Tehsildar and other revenue officials were in attendance at the court on Thursday. However, they failed to produce the required records.

Consequently, the court instructed them to ensure the presentation of the revenue records during the upcoming hearing scheduled for September 23.

In the previous hearing, the counsel, representing the state government, sought the attention of the court that one application is also pending since the entries in the revenue records have now been changed from graveyard to ‘purani abadi’.
