Allahabad HC cancelled recognition of Lucknow Bar Association

The Lucknow Bench of the High Court has ordered the DM of Lucknow and other officials not to recognize the Lucknow Bar Association, its office bearers and members. Earlier, despite the order, the court had expressed displeasure over the Lucknow Bar representing more than 10 thousand lawyers not conducting elections.

The bench of Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice Manish Kumar gave this order on Thursday while hearing the writ petition filed by the Elders Committee of Lucknow Bar Association.

Earlier, the court had said that Lucknow Bar Association has been formed under the Society Registration Act. In such a situation, the officials appointed under this Act have the right to hear disputes like elections. Generally the court does not hear such cases.

But since it was a lawyers' matter, the court heard the matter and on October 17, 2023, with the consent of all the parties, issued an order saying that elections should be held by November 9, 2023, but its order was not followed. The court said that the parties are free to present their views before the concerned authority to resolve the dispute.

After hearing the issue of traffic jam problem around the High Court on Ayodhya Road, the Lucknow Bench of the High Court has suggested shifting the Awadh Bus Station located at Kamta to another place.

The court has asked the government to quickly consider this proposal of the traffic police and take a decision. The court has also asked to take the opinion of the Transport Corporation in this matter. Now the next hearing in this case will be in January.

The bench of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Om Prakash Shukla, while hearing the PIL filed in the name of Awadh Bar Association along with other petitions as a suo motu cognizance, ordered that Transport Municipal Corporation buses should not pass through the service lane of the High Court. These petitions have been filed on the issue of maintaining traffic problem around the High Court. Transport Corporation MD Masoom Ali Sarwar and DCP Traffic Lucknow were also present during the hearing.
