Actor Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth Granted Conditional Bail in 'Kochadaiiyaan' Forgery Case

Latha Rajinikanth, wife of Tamil film actor Rajinikanth, has been granted conditional bail by a local court. She faces allegations related to a forgery case linked to a dispute surrounding the 2014 film 'Kochadaiiyaan'. She personally appeared before the Magistrate court in Bengaluru on December 26th.

She was granted bail upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh along with a cash surety of Rs. 25,000. Additionally, the court instructed her to refrain from influencing witnesses or tampering with evidence.

Her charges under Sections 196, 199, 463, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code have been noted. The complainant objected to her discharge application, citing that Section 463 of the IPC is non-bailable and that she hadn't obtained bail for this particular section yet. The High Court's directive on December 1 instructed her to personally appear before the court by or before January 6, 2024.

The private complaint against Latha Rajinikanth was filed by Ad Bureau Advertising, a Chennai-based company that had financial dealings with M/s Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd., the production company behind the movie featuring Rajinikanth. Notably, the director of 'Kochadaiiyaan' was Latha Rajinikanth's daughter.

Allegedly, Latha Rajinikanth executed a guarantee on behalf of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd in favor of Ad Bureau Advertising. However, when the film incurred losses, she reportedly failed to honor the guarantee, leading to the allegations against her.

Latha Rajinikanth had sought an injunction against 70 media houses to prevent the publication and broadcast of inaccurate information regarding the financial transaction. However, the court dismissed her injunction suit in 2015. Following this, Ad Bureau Advertising lodged a private complaint, alleging the use of a false document in Latha Rajinikanth's earlier injunction suit.
