AAP Leader Manish Sisodia seeks Permission to Visit Ailing Wife During Custody

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and a leader of the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), has moved an application seeking permission to meet his ailing wife for a period of five days while in custody.

The application has been filed with the Rouse Avenue court, and it is scheduled to be heard by Special Judge M K Nagpal. The court is currently handling cases pertaining to the CBI and ED, particularly those related to the Delhi Excise policy.

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, is facing charges in both a CBI case and a money laundering case, with charge sheets having been filed against him and other co-accused individuals in both instances. Notably, the Supreme Court of India has recently denied his bail plea. Prior to this, his requests for bail were also turned down by both the High Court and the trial court.

Nevertheless, in June, the High Court had granted Manish Sisodia permission to visit his wife while in custody. Additionally, AAP MP Sanjay Singh has also been arrested in connection with the Delhi Excise policy case. He is presently in judicial custody and is scheduled to appear before the relevant court on Friday. The ED has asserted that the accused, including Manish Sisodia, were involved in activities that allegedly generated proceeds of crime amounting to approximately ₹622 crore.

Mr Sisodia was arrested by the ED in this case on March 9. Earlier he was arrested by the CBI on February 26.
