The benefit of e-filing of the cases appeared in the Supreme Court when it witnessed a number of cases filed at midnight. In the first minute of the beginning of the year 2024, a total of 7 (Seven) cases were filed and 10 cases were filed within the first 5 minutes
Interestingly matters were also filed in the last minute of the year 2023 at 11:59 pm.
The Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud has always advocated the e-filing of the cases and he says that there would be a day soon when the entire physical filing would be eradicated.
A total of 54147 fresh cases were filed in the year 2023 and the last Diary No. 54147/2023 was provided at 11:59 pm; Diary no.1/2024 was given at 12:00 am.
More interestingly, the last case of 2023 and the first case of 2024 was filed by Advocate-on-record Rishi Matoliya.
Due to the constant endeavour of the CJI, the disposal of cases was also remarkable in 2023. A total of 52217 cases were disposed of by the Supreme Court.
