‘Yeshu Yeshu’ Preacher Pastor Bajinder Singh Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in 2018 Rape Case

Pastor Bajinder Singh, a self-styled preacher known as the "Yeshu Yeshu prophet," has been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with a 2018 rape case in Mohali, Punjab.

The 42-year-old was convicted under sections 376 (rape), 323 (causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and is now held in Patiala jail.

The case began when a woman filed a complaint at the Zirakpur police station in 2018. She accused Singh of luring her with the promise of taking her abroad, then raping her at his home in Sector 63, Mohali, and recording the incident.

She also claimed that Singh threatened to share the video online if she didn’t meet his demands.

Five other individuals involved in the case—Akhbar Bhatti, Rajesh Chaudhary, Jatinder Kumar, Sitar Ali, and Sandeep Pehlwan—were acquitted.

Earlier this month, Singh faced additional charges after a video went viral showing him arguing with and slapping a woman. The video, reportedly from February 14, showed him throwing papers at the woman before hitting her.
