SC to Hear Ranveer Allahbadia’s Plea on Multiple FIRs Over YouTube Comments

The Supreme Court is set to hear on Tuesday a plea filed by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, in connection with multiple FIRs registered against him for remarks on parents and sex during comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent.

A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh is expected to take up the matter.

On March 3, the Supreme Court permitted Allahbadia to resume his podcast, The Ranveer Show, provided it adheres to standards of "morality and decency" and remains suitable for all age groups. This decision came after Allahbadia informed the court that the podcast was his primary source of income, supporting nearly 280 employees.

This ruling modified an earlier February 18 order that had barred Allahbadia and his associates from airing any content on YouTube or other digital platforms.

The Court also extended Allahbadia’s interim protection from arrest while directing him to cooperate with the ongoing investigation in Guwahati.

The bench had previously called his comments "vulgar" and remarked that he had a "dirty mind" that brought shame to society.

Expanding the scope of the proceedings, the Supreme Court directed the Centre to draft a regulatory framework for social media content. Additionally, the court listed YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani’s plea for clubbing multiple FIRs alongside Allahbadia’s petition.

Apart from Allahbadia and Raina, comedians Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija have also been named in the Assam case.
