SC Collegium recommends appointment of 5 additional judges of Madras High Court as permanent judges

Yesterday, Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of five additional judges of the Madras High Court as permanent judges.

As per the resolution uploaded on the website of the apex court, the judges recommended for permanent judgeship are

Justices AA Nakkiran,

Justice Nidumolu Mala, 

Justice S Sounthar, 

Justice Sunder Mohan

Justice Kabali Kumaresh Babu

The Madras High Court's Collegium had unanimously recommended such appointment of the five judges on June 20 this year. 

As per the Memorandum of Procedure, judges of the Supreme Court conversant with the functioning of the Madras High Court were then consulted to assess the suitability of appointing the five judges as permanent judges.

The proposal was being concurred by the Chief Minister and Governor of Tamil Nadu.
