The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday issued a strong condemnation of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of at least 28 people.
In a unanimous resolution passed by the Full Court, the incident was described as a “diabolical act of mindless violence” that has “shaken the conscience of the nation” and serves as a grim reminder of the devastating impact of terrorism.
“The Supreme Court of India pays solemn tribute to the innocent lives lost in this brutal and premature manner,” the resolution stated. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured. The entire nation stands united in this moment of profound grief.”
The Court emphasized that the attack targeted tourists who were simply enjoying the natural beauty of Kashmir — often referred to as the Crown Jewel of India — and called it a grave affront to the values of humanity and the sanctity of life.
To honor the memory of the victims and express solidarity with their families, judges, advocates, court staff, and others present in the courtroom observed two minutes of silence.
