The Election Tribunal of the Rohini Court Bar Association (RCBA) has stayed the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected representatives until further orders.
The order, issued yesterday, was passed by the tribunal comprising Chairman RP Dhania and Members IS Sharma and Indu Shekhar.
Elections for all bar associations across the national capital, including the Delhi High Court Bar Association, were conducted on March 21.
The stay order follows an election petition filed by several lawyers, alleging discrepancies in the poll process. The petitioners had earlier approached the Delhi High Court, which disposed of their plea on March 27, directing them to seek relief from the Election Tribunal. Justice Mini Pushkarna had also instructed the tribunal to address the matter promptly.
On April 1, the petitioners informed the tribunal that they had submitted an urgent application concerning the felicitation ceremony scheduled for April 2 at 4 PM, during which the newly elected RCBA executive committee was set to take the oath.
On this, the Tribunal directed:
“…. considering the contentions of the petitioners raised in the petition in respect of election dated 21.03.2025 by them the Defendants have been restrained to celebrate the oath ceremony till further order of the tribunal,” it said.
