Mafia Akhand Pratap Singh, lodged in Bareilly jail, appeared in the gangster court on Tuesday.
During the court hearing, he demanded medicine and food from the judge. Which the judge accepted on the basis of humanity. Due to the elections, the court fixed the next hearing date on January 9.
The renowned transporter Dhanraj Yadav met a tragic end when his vehicle was ambushed on the evening of May 11, 2013, allegedly by Akhand Pratap Singh, the block chief of Tarwan. Singh stands accused of not only fatally shooting Yadav but also keeping his belongings, including his rifle, before fleeing the scene. This incident adds to a string of approximately 35 registered cases against Singh. Notably, in 2017, he ventured into politics and ran for the Atraulia Assembly constituency, representing the BSP.
Since he remained absconding for a long time, the police declared him a gangster and announced a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh. After the reward was announced, Akhand Pratap Singh dodged the police and surrendered in court in 2019. Presently, he is detained in Bareilly jail. The gangster court summoned him on Tuesday. He recorded 113 statements in court. The next date was fixed for January 9. During this time, Mafia Akhand Pratap Singh demanded from the judge to make arrangements for feeding him medicine.
The judge accepted it on the basis of humanity. After this, he was again sent to Bareilly jail, under tight security.
Along with the murder of transporter Dhanraj Yadav, Akhand Pratap Singh is also a joint accused with Dhruv Singh, alias Kuntu Singh, in the murder of Ajit Singh that took place on January 6, 2021, at Kathauta intersection in Lucknow. There was another person accused along with him in the transporter murder case. The said person had died before the charge sheet was filed.
