On the golden jubilee, of Kesavanada Bharathi Case, the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud announced on Monday that the Supreme Court has dedicated a web page containing the details of the judgment which “the world can use for law research.”
The webpage contains the background information on the case, its origins, the text of the judgment, case notes, written submissions, etc.
“We have dedicated a web page with all written submissions and everything related to the Kesavananda case for all world researchers to look at,” a bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said.
The webpage also contains the views of the 13 judges who comprised the Constitution bench including the then chief Justice SM Sikri, Justice KS Hegde, and Justice AN Grover among others. The list also includes the views of CJI DY Chandrachud’s father YV Chandrachud.
The case is also known as the Fundamental Rights Case. The court in a 7-6 decision asserted its right to strike down amendments to the constitution that was in violation of the fundamental architecture of the constitution.
