Convict Throws Slipper at Judge in Court After Life Sentence; Lawyers Call for Boycott

A man sentenced to life in an attempted murder case threw a slipper at a woman judge in court on Thursday, police said.

The incident happened when he was brought before the Additional District Judge (ADJ) for another murder trial. The slipper missed the judge, police confirmed.  The accused had been given a life sentence on February 11 and was back in the same court for a different case.

The Ranga Reddy District Court Bar Association condemned the act. Lawyers in the court complex caught and beat up the convict.

Bar Association president Y Kondal Reddy said the accused was angry at the judge and demanded strict action against him.

In protest, lawyers have called for a boycott of court proceedings on Friday.

A case has been registered, and police are investigating.
