The Supreme Court Collegium has put forth the name of Justice NV Anjaria, who presently serves as a judge in the Gujarat High Court, to be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Anjaria began his journey as a judge in the Gujarat High Court on November 21, 2011. Prior to his elevation to the bench, he practiced law in various domains such as civil, constitutional, company law, labour, and service matters, specializing particularly in civil and constitutional cases.
The Collegium's decision also considered the circumstance of Justice Ashish J Desai, who hails from the Gujarat High Court and is presently serving as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. Justice Desai is set to retire on July 4, 2024.
After thoroughly evaluating all relevant factors, the Collegium deemed Justice Anjaria as highly suitable and qualified to assume the role of Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
