Justice DY Chandrachud appointed 50th Chief Justice of India

President Draupadi Murmu has appointed Justice DY Chandrachud as the 50th Chief Justice of India. Justice DY Chandrachud will take oath on 09th November, 2022 when the term of present Chief Justice of India UU Lalit comes to an end.

CJI Lalit has recommended the name of Justice DY Chandrahud for the appointment to the top post on 11th October, 2022 as his successor. Justice Chandrachud will have a tenure of 2 years in the office which is the maximum in recent years. 

Father of Justice DY Chandrachud namely YV Chandrachud had also been Chief Justice of India.
