The Haryana Government has appointed Pravindra Singh Chauhan as the new Advocate General of Haryana, effective today, December 23.
In a notification issued by the Haryana Government on Monday, it was stated that "In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 165(1) of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Haryana is pleased to appoint Sh. Pravindra Singh Chauhan, Senior Additional Advocate General, Haryana as Advocate General for the State of Haryana with immediate effect."
Chauhan, who previously served as the Senior Additional Advocate General of Haryana, succeeds Baldev Raj Mahajan, who held the position of Advocate General for Haryana for a decade, since 2014. In 2018, Chauhan was also appointed as a member of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission. He completed his LLB degree from the Campus Law Centre, North Campus, Delhi University, in 1999.
Chauhan began his legal career under the guidance of his father, J.B.S. Chauhan, a Senior Advocate at the District Courts in Karnal. In 2001, he moved to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh, where he practiced in Constitutional, Civil, and Criminal matters.
